First of all, we need to emphasise on the difference between a ban and a block. In WikiPhone terms, a block is when you are unable to edit the wiki or interact in the Discord server, but can still see the contents within. A ban is when you are unable to join the Discord server and/or the website.

Some users may be banned from only the server for example. We try our very best to not ban people, and it's reserved for the worst of the worst cases. As we don't believe in the restriction of information and knowledge. If we ban someone, it's most likely because we believe they are a threat to the project.

Sometimes, we may ban someone from the Discord and block their user from the website. However, this still counts as a block and not a ban. Blocks can either be temporary (expire after a set amount of time elapses), indefinite (until user submits an accepted appeal) or permanent (non appealable, non expiring, mainly used for things like drama), while bans are permanent..

Unlike bans, unless it's a permanent block (such as drama), we allow people to appeal a block. Common reasons for a block include (but are not limited to):

  • Too many poor quality edits
  • Constant failure to follow the editors guidelines
  • Constant breaking of the rules, ignoring warning given by administration
  • Using generative AI to write entire articles

We fully understand that we are not perfect and blocks are not always fair or in the best interest, and that people change and grow up over time. As such, we allow people to appeal. To submit a appeal, you will need to send an email to blockappeals@telephones.wiki. And you will need to state the following information:

  • Your WikiPhone username
  • Your Discord username (if relevant)
  • Why you were blocked
  • What you did wrong
  • Why you believe you should be unblocked
  • What you will do to avoid this happening in the future

Administration will review your request and will vote on whether to unblock you. Please note if we stated in the message you receive when you were blocked that it's a permanent block, we will ignore your email.

You can find more information on how blocks on WikiPhone work here.
