Manufacturer Sanyo Electric Co. (三洋電機)

The Sanyo CLT-D6614 is a DECT 6.0 cordless telephone. It was sold exclusively by SANYO Canada Inc. as the "Expandable Cordless Telephone with Touch Sensitive Keypad" in Canada. Its main gimmick is that it uses touch-sensitive digital buttons rather than physical ones seen in most cordless telephones, which works much like the touchscreen of a smartphone. The phones uses a proximity sensor to lock the keypad when using the earpiece. The handsets use an uncommon NiMH 650 mAh 3.6V rechargeable battery pack that uses 3 AAA cells. The entire unit is made from glossy plastic.

Significance in telephone collectors community / "3 am" ringtone"

One of the ringtones the telephones includes is called "3 am". Which consists of a repetitive jarring sound, described as some as sounding like a train horn. When Jordan U made an initial checkout video of this telephone, he highlighted this ringtone, and made a dedicated video about it on his channel. Because of the nature of the ringtone, it quickly became a meme/inside joke within this circle. Many of the other ringtones such as "Funky music box" received this same treatment.

Software quirks
